Valve and Actuator Technician (Guelph)
Purpose
This position is responsible for the installation, inspection, calibration, repair and maintenance of valve actuators and related equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Studying blueprints, drawings and technical specs to determine the layout, installation procedures and materials required for a job;
- Measuring, marking and positioning reference points for installation of actuators and other valve related equipment;
- Responding to valve related emergencies both during and after regular working hours;
- Assembling, disassembling, replacing and maintaining valves and actuators;
- Performing instrument setup and calibration to meet specifications;
- Testing and replacement of defective equipment or components;
- Advising clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of the system; and
- Building and maintaining relationships with customers

- Operation and use of Pressure Relief Valves
- Appropriate use of the ASME Code
- Critical Inspection and Testing of ASME Valves
- Repair maintenance, setting and testing of ASME Valves
- Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of ASME Code
- Knowledge of valves, pneumatic, electronic and hydraulic actuators
- Knowledge of Valve Automation Center’s policies and procedures and applicable tools
- Knowledge of health and safety issues and regulations
- Education:
- High School Diploma
- College diploma in related field is an asset
- Experience:
- Three to Five (3 – 5) years of technician related experience
- Experience in setting and testing ASME Valves
- Experience as a Pressure Relief Valve Assembler
- Experience in repair maintenance of ASME Valves
- Experience with welding is an asset
